01 · Incision Care

Protect the incision. Respect the healing process.

Surgical wounds change as they heal. Early care focuses on protecting the incision and following dressing instructions, while later scar care may focus on the appearance and texture of the healed scar. Always follow the specific instructions your healthcare team provides, and use proper hand hygiene when touching or changing dressings.

Early healing

Protect the surgical site and follow dressing and wound-care instructions exactly as provided.

Incision monitoring

Watch for changes in redness, pain, drainage or swelling, and contact your care team if something seems concerning.

Scar remodeling

Once your incision is sufficiently healed and your surgeon approves scar treatment, discuss appropriate options.

02 · Compression

Compression should support recovery, not complicate it.

Compression garments can be recommended after certain procedures, but the garment, pressure level, sizing, duration and timing should be determined by your treating clinician. Never size, tighten or extend the use of a compression garment based on general advice alone.

Surgical bras

Designed for postoperative breast support when recommended by your surgical team.

Abdominal binders

Used after some abdominal and body procedures when clinically appropriate.

Compression stockings

Used for selected patients as part of a clot-prevention plan, with proper measurement and fitting.

Support to have on hand

03 · Scar Care

When the incision is closed, scar care begins a new chapter.

Scar maturation takes time. Once your surgical team confirms your incision is healed enough for scar treatment, silicone-based products are one commonly used option for supporting the appearance and texture of a healed scar.

Timing

Only begin scar treatment once your surgeon has confirmed your incision is fully closed and healed.

Consistency

Scar-care products typically need weeks of consistent, daily use to show a difference.

Sun protection

Protect healing scars from direct sun exposure, which can affect how they mature.

04 · Mobility & Comfort

Move safely. Set up your space before you need it.

Regaining mobility after surgery should happen at the pace your medical team recommends. A little planning at home, comfortable positioning, and the right support can make the early days noticeably easier.

Bed and rest area

Extra pillows, phone charger, water bottle, medications as directed, small bedside organizer.

Kitchen

Easy meals, protein-rich foods, hydration, convenient snacks within reach.

Bathroom

Frequently used toiletries, easy-to-reach essentials, safety equipment when recommended.

Mobility

Clear walking paths, comfortable footwear, recommended mobility equipment.
